9/11 Service In Action Day

On September 11, 2026, the National Veterans Memorial and Museum (NVMM) will host its first Service In Action Day in partnership with 9/11Day.org, the City of Columbus, Mid-Ohio Food Collective, local schools, and community volunteers. Columbus is one of only fifty cities selected by 9/11Day.org nationwide to participate on this National Day of Service, with NVMM serving as the official host site for the community.

The effort aligns with NVMM's mission to honor all Veterans, elevate their stories, and amplify the power of service by reframing the anniversary of September 11 as a day of both remembrance and service. Our goal is to establish a lasting annual tradition that turns the legacy of that day into community action.

On September 11, approximately 200 volunteers will pack 75,000 meals for distribution by Mid-Ohio Food Collective to families facing food insecurity throughout the region. Additionally, volunteers will participate in remembrance activations at NVMM to commemorate that fateful day. Your donation will directly fund the resources and materials for this meal-packing effort and support the volunteers whose work makes it all possible.
